Where do donated items come from and how are sale proceeds used?
Supporters of Dust2Dust Music Network have selflessly donated items to help raise money to fund the music efforts of Dust2Dust Music Network and its membership. When you donate or buy any donated item, you are supporting the DIY 'DO IT YOURSELF' philosophy, so bands don't have to rely on business owners and promoters to survive.

Does D2DMN pay its performing bands?
Yes, without exception. Pay is determined by committe members as well as participating paid [active-up-todate-members] in the planning phase of every show, event or fest. A primary function of D2DMN is to ensure that working bands get paid and are not subjected to misrepresentations and unrecoverable expenses.
top^
May D2DMN member bands play shows other than D2DMN shows?
Yes. However, D2DMN exists for the protection of its member bands. Any bad experiences that result from playing shows outside the network are up to individual bands to handle. D2DMN will not intervene to support any band who has performed outside the network any legal or administrative disputes are the sole responsibility of the band that elected to perform in an out-of-network situation.

Why do new bands think they have to play for free for 'exposure.'
Many producers, promoters and venue owners want new bands to believe this because its how the music industry used to work. Every band has expenses relating to rehearsal, equipment, transportation and performing. When a band performs for free that band is hurting all bands because the market value of our service 'art and entertainment' is eliminated. The venue, agents, promoters all benefit but the quality of entertainment is greatly compromised and demand decreases dramatically.
NO SERIOUS BAND THAT FEELS IT DELIVERS A QUALITY PRODUCT SHOULD EVER PERFORM FOR FREE! The painful truth is; if you have to play for free, your not ready to perform for a 'public' audience, wait until you can knock their socks off or at least be respected for a solid performance.

Other than the network how can bands keep from getting burned?
Hire a first-rate law firm to draw up a contract and keep them on retainer in case you have to sue to get paid. Forget that, it'll cost you far more to sue than it did to get the contract written. Finally, good luck getting any venue to book you and sign a legal contract, they'll likely move on to the next band they can get for free.
top^
Is D2DMN against venue owners, agents, labels and producers?
No. D2DMN prides itself in maintaining positive working relationships with entertainment professionals. D2DMN's only purpose is to ensure a 'win, win' situation for all professionals in the music industry but first and foremost to deliver quality entertainment to paying audiences who deserve to get what they paid for, quality performances.
top^
Does D2DMN support battle of the bands and other competitions?
No. D2DMN prefers to support every musician, regardless of talent level or resource abundance. Too many competitions are 'fixed' meaning; judged by unqualified people, judged by qualified people unable to set aside personal agendas in the interest of being fair. Unfortunately, this tendency to be unfair is part of the imperfect human condition. D2DMN chooses to see competitions for what they are and prefers to give every artist and band a stage to ride as far as they desire or as high as their music will take them. In the end, fans and no one else will judge the overall product.
top^
What services does D2DMN offer?
